For owner Liz Kehl, her first encounter with the world of stringed instruments was during a presentation at school where Kehl got her first real taste of strings.

“A year later, I was playing an instrument I never heard of, which is the viola. And the rest is pretty much history — once I got it, it just stuck. It resonated, and I just kept getting better."

The passion she developed for the instrument inspired a lifetime of growth as a musician that developed into a professional career as an instructor. Liz had been teaching for 20 years before she expanded her business to include a brick and mortar location in downtown Sedalia.

Our Sedalia Strings Academy LLC was officially licensed in 2022 and opened doors shortly after. We have sponsored recitals, clinics, and lessons all while preparing to move into our new building.

At the academy we want to foster an education setting that meets the needs of anyone who wants to learn. We are inspiring many generations of musicians to pursue their musical goals. Whether you're 5 or 80, a beginner or seeking to refine your skills, we have a place for you.
